I always wanted to be a writer. Pretty much ever since I can remember, after I got over wanting to be G.I. Joe, or Spider Man , or Iron Man, or the Silver Surfer

Kurt Vonnegut dashed my chances at that. I proved as much in a battery of term papers as an undergrad. Vonnegut writes something like "humans are designed to live in colonies of about a thousand people. " According to KV that ideal one thousand souls will sorth themselves out into one best butcher, one best baker, one best candle stick maker, a superior garbage man, a better than average janitor, a top flight maintainence engineer, and inevitably one best writer. I'm pretty good at mashing words together in sentences, but I'm not better then one in a thosand, so I cast around for other things to do.
